First Salmon of 2017

Fishery manager Nigel Rush reports that the first salmon of 2017 on the Dawros River (Kylemore Abbey Fishery) was caught yesterday by Geoffrey Fitzjohn. The fish weighed 8.25lbs and was caught in Tullywee Bridge Pool on a size 8 Black Shrimp. It’s great to see the first Kylemore fish already, and hopefully this bodes well

The final nine days of the season were hampered with low water levels. We could only manage six salmon for the period for just 10 rod days. This brings us to a total of 221 salmon and 193 sea trout for 260 rod days. A more detailed breakdown follows below: Total Rod Days = 260.
